Cooling Stations due to High Temps

The Cambria County EMA/9-1-1 is taking immediate action.

With this week’s impending high temperatures Cambria EMA is prepared to open cooling stations. If you have folks who present with a need for a cooling station, please reach out to our non-emergency number (814-472-2100) here at 9-1-1. The on-duty supervisor will reach out to EMA to establish the cooling station(s). 

PORTAGE, THEFTS FROM MOTOR VEHICLES

The Portage Police Department is investigating multiple thefts from motor vehicles that occurred this date of 06/07/2024.

Suspects appeared to be 3 males possibly late teens or early 20’s wearing hooded shirts and occurred between 4:00 and 6:00 a.m. Anyone with information, please contact the Portage Police Department at 814-736-9638.

ALL BORO RESIDENTS/OWNERS/OCCUPANTS

As a reminder and notice to Borough residents, owners, occupants, etc., The Portage Borough Police Department will be strictly enforcing the borough ordinances for grass, high weeds, accumulation of junk and trash and unregistered vehicle ordinances.

Residents/occupants of the borough must maintain their properties for the health and wellbeing for themselves and their neighbors.

Portage Police Warning

The Portage Borough Police are warning citizens of a “Citizens Behind the Badge Scam” that requests donations and has been observed in mailboxes in our area.

This group is based out of Virginia and is “NOT” registered as a 501(C3) nonprofit with the IRS.

The Portage Police Department does NOT solicit donations by mail or phone and encourages residents to research before making any donations to any organization.

2024 Garbage Rates

Portage Borough Council has set the 2024 Garbage collection rates for Borough Residents. This will be effective from January 1st, 2024 through December 31st, 2024.

The curb side service, including Spring Clean up will be $19.20 per month

The pre-paid bags (10) per pack will be $34.50
