Route 53 Road Closed

Hollidaysburg, PA – The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) announced the closing of State Route 53 between Portage and Lilly, Cambria County, today until further notice after water eroded the soil under the road, causing portions of the shoulder to fall away.

The damaged section of the route is approximately 1,500 feet north of the SR 53 and SR 164 intersection near Plane Road (T408).

Traffic near the area is being detoured:

– State Route 53 north traffic will take SR 164 east to SR 22 east to SR 53 Cresson/Lilly exit.

– State Route 53 south traffic will take SR 22 west to SR 164 west to SR 53

There is no timetable for reopening the road.
