Summerfest 2015 is approaching.  A schedule of events is now available. 

"Portage Area Summerfest is held the second weekend of August every year with many craft booths, a large variety of food, and unlimited entertainment.  

Summerfest weekend begins on Friday evening with entertainment and events. Saturday events continue throughout the day and evening including a parade and a fantastic fireworks display at the football stadium. Sunday events continue throughout the day and early evening including a car show and nationally known musicians. 

This is the pride of the Portage Area community and everyone waits in anticipation for this special event.

Meetings are held the second Wednesday of the month:  October-April at the Parkway Restaurant and May-August at the Summerfest Pavilion in Crichton McCormick Park. Everyone is welcome to volunteer.

The Borough Tax Collector Joanne Redfern will be having office hours beginning on Monday, July 6th, 2015 at the Borough Administration office between the hours of 8:30 a.m. through 11:30 a.m.  Collection days will be Monday and Tuesdays.  The tax collection date will end on Monday, August 31st, 2015.  If you have any questions, please contact the administration office at 814/736-4330 or Joanne at 736-9787.  In addition, residents will need to start writing  out their checks to: Portage Borough Tax Collector; NOT; JOANNE REDFERN. 
The Portage Area Sewer Authority will be commencing with the sewer project in Ward 3 beginning the week of June 1st, 2015.  The Lateral testing of all properties will be required.  For compliance and testing requirements; refer to Ordinance 4-2014. 
As a reminder to borough residents; please keep your lawns mowed.  The Borough implemented Ordinance 4-2011 concerning grass and weed height restrictions to only (10") ten inches.

New Garbage collection rates went into effect on January 1st, 2015:
    curbside service monthly fee $14.30 - quarterly-$42.90
    prepaid bags (pack of ten) $31.00
District Magistrate Galen Decort's Office has moved from Portage to Cresson Township at 730 Portage Road, Cresson, PA  16630.  The phone number is 814/886-8879 and the fax is 814/886-8478.

 Borough Council Meetings

Portage Borough Council meets the first Monday
of every month beginning at 6:30 p.m. in Council
Chambers for regular council meetings:
The meeting dates for 2015 are:
Monday-January 5th, February 2nd, March 2nd,
April 6th, May 4th, June 1st, July 20th, August 3rd,
Tuesday-September 8th, October 5th, November 2nd,
and December 7th.
Portage Borough Council meets the third Monday
of every month beginning at  6:30 p.m. in Council
Chambers for committee of the whole meetings:
January 19th, Tuesday-February 17th, March 16th,
April 20th, May 18th, June 15th, no meeting in July,
August 24th, September 21st, October 19th,
November 16th, and a special meeting of Council
will be held on Friday, December 18th at 6:00 p.m.
